The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) has launched a new destination training course on Online Travel Training (OTT), an online training and marketing platform for the travel and tourism industry, giving travel advisors specialised knowledge and resources to promote and sell Dominica with greater confidence.

The course is currently available on the OTT United States and United Kingdom platforms and is expected to be added to the France and Germany platforms soon. It is self-paced and free to travel professionals, who can register through the OTT website.

Marva Williams, Chief Executive Officer of the Discover Dominica Authority, said travel advisors remain important partners in connecting visitors with the island, particularly in Dominica's key source markets. She said the new course allows the authority to deepen advisors' knowledge of the destination while expanding its reach among travel professionals who can recommend Dominica to their clients.

The training covers Dominica's seven tourism pillars: Adventure, Health and Wellness, Romance, Aqua, Culture — Events and Entertainment, Agro, and Kalinago. Advisors are introduced to the island's rainforests, rivers and waterfalls, volcanic terrain, world-class diving and marine experiences, wellness offerings, and cultural and community-based experiences.

The DDA said the material is designed to be practical, helping advisors build recommendations and itineraries tailored to the needs of individual clients. Participants who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate of Completion recognising their destination knowledge and readiness to recommend Dominica.

The authority will promote the course to travel professionals in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada. The expansion forms part of a broader DDA strategy to strengthen travel trade education and grow the network of advisors equipped to sell Dominica internationally.

Tourism remains a central pillar of the Dominica economy, supporting hotels, tour operators, transport providers, vendors and community enterprises across the island. Travel advisors based in North America and Europe influence booking decisions long before visitors reach Douglas-Charles Airport or the cruise berths in Roseau and Portsmouth, making trade education a direct investment in visitor arrivals.

Dominica has positioned itself around nature, adventure and wellness rather than mass-market tourism, and the seven pillars reflect that approach. The inclusion of the Kalinago pillar points to the island's indigenous heritage in the Kalinago Territory, while the Agro pillar highlights farm-to-table and agricultural experiences that link tourism to the wider rural economy.

For travel professionals, the course offers a structured introduction to a destination that can be less familiar than larger Caribbean neighbours. For Dominica, it widens the pool of advisors able to describe the island accurately and match it with travellers seeking rainforest hikes, diving, cultural festivals or quiet wellness retreats.

The DDA has encouraged travel professionals to register for the Dominica course on the OTT platform, and has directed those seeking further information to its official website and social media channels.
