The community of Bellevue Chopin is in mourning following the death of Mary Felixia Ormond nee James, affectionately known as Ma Fanso. She passed away on August 19, 2026 at the China Friendship Hospital. She was 96 years old.
Ma Fanso leaves to mourn a large and loving family. Her children, Càrol Prosper, Ivo Graham, Eugina, Adam, Angelo, Matthew Stanley, Daniel and Norma, survive her. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, including Dick, Ikima, Marilou, Marvin, Micah, Chad, Mia, Summer, Donald, Clyde, Merlyndi, Pearl, Cody, Liam, Priscilla, Diane, Jay, Joel, Jonah, Barnette, Shane, Ania, Tashena, Jessica and Elijah.
Her great-grandchildren, Amelia, Aden, Collin, Nicole, Damian, Desirae, Baines, Joshua, Jeovani, Lisa, Shaka, Aminata, Samantha, Xavier, Mary, Micah and Rebecca, also survive her. Numerous nieces and nephews, including Hildreath, Decima, Mignon, Jerry Martin, Lucy, Washington, Bernice, Theresa Carty, Merlyn, Eulyn, Eramus, Evarus, Pamela, Lucia, Brenda, Keith and Nathalie, are also among those left to cherish her memory.
Her sister, Maudlyn Tinedor, and her sons and daughters in law, Pastor Phillip Prosper, Catherine, Cheryl and Emàlie Ormond, also survive her. She is further survived by her brother in law, Joseph Tinedor, and sisters in law, Theresa and Lenore.
The family has acknowledged the support of Pastor and Sister Lloyd and the members of the Bellevue Baptist Church, as well as the Bellevue Gospel Mission. Pastor Phillip John Baptist and Pastor and Sister Welbourn Hector are also recognised. The Ormond, James Henderson, Morancie and Talbert families of Bellevue, Pichelin and Grand Bay, along with Pastor Merrill Wallace and his family of Portsmouth, are among those who share in the loss.
Many other relatives and friends, including Nurse Maria Moses, Ruben Henderson, Ivon Laville, Ursula and Jolly Registe, and the wider communities of Bellevue Chopin and Pichelin, are also mentioned by the family.
The body of the late Mary Felixia Ormond nee James will lie for viewing at Truth and Grace Global on Saturday, August 29 at 10:00 am. The Home Going Service will follow at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at the Roseau Public Cemetery.
