Mas Domnik, popularly known as «The Real Mas», is Dominica's annual Carnival celebration and one of the most anticipated events on the national calendar. The season traditionally opens in early January and builds to its climax on Carnival Monday and Tuesday, which in 2027 fall on February 8 and 9, with the season closing on February 10. The extended window gives organisers room to stage the full slate of traditional events, from calypso and bouyon shows to street parades and community fetes across the island.
The announcement of the calendar is significant for the many stakeholders who depend on Carnival.
