Finance Minister Hon. Dr. Irving McIntyre announced the projected completion date during the 2026-2027 National Budget presentation. The airport is being constructed by China’s CR5, one of that country’s major state-owned engineering and construction firms. Ambassador Chu said the project represents a significant step in Dominica’s development and demonstrates the tangible outcomes of diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador’s remarks were made in a commentary published this week, in which he framed the airport project within the broader context of China’s engagement with Dominica and the Caribbean region.
