The Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO) has advised the public that its Portsmouth office will close early on Friday, September 25, 2026, to allow staff to take part in a training session.
The office will shut at 1:00 pm that day, according to the company's announcement. Normal business is scheduled to resume on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 8:00 am.
DOWASCO said the closure is necessary so that employees at the Portsmouth location can attend the training. The company did not provide further details on the subject of the session.
Customers in Portsmouth and surrounding communities who need to conduct business with DOWASCO are being asked to plan around the shortened hours. The office will be open only during the morning of Friday, September 25, before closing at 1:00 pm.
Portsmouth is Dominica's second town and a key service centre for the island's north-west, including the Indian River area and nearby villages. DOWASCO maintains a presence there to handle bill payments, new connections, reports of leaks and other water and sewerage matters.
The utility has not indicated any change to its services during the closure. Residents with urgent water or sewerage problems are advised to use the company's usual emergency contact arrangements, which remain available outside office hours.
DOWASCO regularly schedules staff training, and such sessions sometimes require temporary office closures. The company said normal operations at the Portsmouth office will return to their regular schedule the following Monday.
Members of the public are encouraged to complete any urgent transactions before 1:00 pm on Friday or to wait until the office reopens on Monday morning.
