The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has advised motorists of temporary traffic changes that will take effect on Saturday, September 26, 2026, to accommodate the Opening of the Independence Walk Through Parade 2026.
The parade is scheduled to take place in Roseau, and the CDPF said the changes are necessary to ensure the safety of participants and spectators and to allow the event to proceed without disruption.
Motorists are being asked to plan their journeys around the affected routes and to follow the directions of officers on duty. The police force said it will release further details on the specific roads and times affected as the event approaches.
The Independence Walk Through Parade forms part of Dominica's annual Independence celebrations, which bring together communities from across the island in a programme of cultural, civic and sporting events. The opening parade is traditionally one of the first major public events of the season.
The CDPF has urged drivers to exercise caution, reduce speed in the vicinity of the parade route and cooperate with traffic officers. It also reminded the public that pedestrian safety is a priority during large national events.
