Police are searching for a fisherman from Atkinson who has been reported missing. Acting ASP and Police PRO Fixton Henderson confirmed that Richard Davis, an adult male from Atkinson, went fishing on the rocks along the seashore and has not returned.
According to police reports, Davis went fishing at about 6:30 am on Saturday 29th August 2026 in an area called Big River in Atkinson. He has not been seen since, prompting an investigation into his disappearance.
The search has involved members of the local community and other individuals. Operations were temporarily aborted due to rough seas and adverse weather conditions, but efforts to locate Davis resumed and are continuing.
During the search, some belongings believed to belong to the missing fisherman may have been discovered. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed by police.
Police are appealing to anyone with information about Davis's whereabouts to come forward. The community remains hopeful that he will be found safe and in good health.
