The Electoral Reform Commission (ERC) held a press conference on Monday, 5 October 2026, carried live from Roseau as part of its continuing work on electoral reform in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The session gave the Commission a further opportunity to address the public directly on its mandate and the progress of its consultations. It follows a series of engagements the body has undertaken across the island, including in Portsmouth, the Kalinago Territory and communities in the south, where residents have been invited to submit views on the conduct of elections and the administration of the electoral system.
Electoral reform has been a matter of sustained public interest in Dominica, with debate centring on the register of electors, the role of the Electoral Commission, constituency boundaries and the arrangements for voting by Dominicans resident overseas. The ERC was established to examine these questions and to recommend changes to the Government and the House of Assembly.
The Commission has said its work is guided by the need for transparency and broad participation, and it has encouraged Dominicans at home and in the diaspora to take part. Monday's press conference was streamed live, allowing viewers across the island and abroad to follow the proceedings as they happened.
Details of the Commission's findings and recommendations are expected to be made public in due course. Dominica 1 will report further on the ERC's work as verified information becomes available.
