Daniel Lugay, the United Workers Party (UWP) representative for the Roseau North Constituency, has publicly thanked his constituents for their support and votes in the September 7 by-election.
Lugay received 998 votes in the poll, losing to the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate. The by-election was held to fill the seat in the House of Assembly following the resignation of the previous representative.
In a statement issued after the results were declared, Lugay expressed gratitude to the voters of Roseau North for the confidence they placed in him. He said the campaign had been a positive one and that he remained committed to serving the people of the constituency.
The UWP candidate also thanked his campaign team and volunteers for their hard work throughout the by-election period. He noted that the support he received reflected a desire for change among many residents of Roseau North.
The by-election was closely watched across the island as a test of political sentiment in the capital. The DLP retained the seat, but the margin of victory and the turnout were seen as significant indicators of the current political climate.

Residents of Roseau North are now looking to the newly elected representative to address local concerns, including road repairs, drainage and support for small businesses. The by-election result means the constituency will be represented by the DLP in the House of Assembly.
