The Electoral Office has confirmed that Dominica's voter confirmation exercise closed on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 5:30 PM, bringing to an end the period during which registered voters were asked to verify their details on the electoral list. Registration services, however, will not remain closed for long: continuous registration is set to resume on Friday, October 16, the office has said.

According to the Electoral Office, from Friday, individuals who wish to register will be able to do so at registration centres across the island. The resumption of continuous registration means that eligible Dominicans who did not take part in the confirmation exercise, or who have turned 18 since the last registration drive, will have the opportunity to have their names entered on the voters' list.

The confirmation exercise, which ran until the 5:30 PM deadline on Wednesday, was designed to allow electors to check that their names and polling station details were correctly recorded. The Electoral Office had urged voters to use the period to confirm their registration status ahead of future electoral events. With the exercise now complete, attention shifts to the routine registration process that operates throughout the year.

Continuous registration is a standing feature of Dominica's electoral system, allowing eligible citizens to register at any time rather than only during a fixed window. The office has advised that persons wishing to register should present the required identification and proof of address when they visit a registration centre. Officials have not indicated any change to the standard requirements.

The close of the confirmation period and the restart of continuous registration come as the Electoral Office continues its work to maintain an accurate and up-to-date register. The office has reminded the public that registration is a free service and that no payment is required to have one's name added to the list.

Dominicans at home and in the diaspora have shown steady interest in the electoral process, and the Electoral Office has said it will continue to provide information on registration hours and locations through its usual channels. Persons with questions about their registration status are encouraged to contact the Electoral Office directly.

With continuous registration resuming on Friday, the office says it expects a steady flow of new applicants in the coming weeks. The exercise is open to all eligible voters, including those who have recently reached voting age and those who have changed their place of residence since the last registration period.
