The All About Ball League (AABL), in partnership with the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA), will stage an international basketball exposure tournament at the Massacre Indoor Sports Complex from September 17 to 26, 2026. Six teams will compete in preliminary games, semifinals, a third-place playoff and a championship final, with most games scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The participating teams are Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons, BAA Sharks, 767 Sports Club Dominators, D-Treads Blazers, Parrots Basketball Club and AAB Jaguars. The semifinals will be played on Friday, September 25, and the third-place playoff and championship final on Saturday, September 26. The Dominican public is invited to attend and support the teams.
Approximately 16 visiting players from the United States are expected to take part in the inaugural tournament. Many have played college basketball and are pursuing further opportunities in the sport. Together, the visiting athletes have a combined social-media following of more than 250,000 people. They will be encouraged to share their experiences in Dominica, including games, training sessions, cultural activities, local cuisine, natural attractions and interactions with Dominican youth.
AABL is designed as a professional exposure tournament, giving aspiring players a structured and competitive environment to showcase their abilities. Participants will have access to professional game footage, photography, interviews, livestream coverage, social-media promotion and networking opportunities. While participation does not guarantee a professional contract, salary or scholarship, the league provides a legitimate platform for players to compete, be evaluated and increase their visibility within the international basketball community.
Dominican athletes will also benefit, competing against visiting players in a high-level environment while gaining access to professional game film, interviews, player profiles, live statistics and digital-media coverage. The tournament is expected to create networking and career-development opportunities for local players interested in pursuing basketball opportunities outside Dominica.
AABL’s wider development vision includes youth basketball camps, mentorship, leadership training, coaching development, officiating development and community-engagement activities. These programmes are intended to show young Dominican athletes that basketball can open pathways to education, scholarships, international travel, mentorship, personal development and professional opportunities.
Beyond competition, the league aims to help establish Dominica as an annual destination for international basketball and sports tourism. Visiting players will be encouraged to experience and promote the country’s culture, food, communities, beaches, waterfalls, nature and adventure activities. The tournament can also generate economic activity for accommodation providers, restaurants, food vendors, transportation operators, tour providers, retail businesses, event workers, photographers, media professionals and other local service providers.
AABL plans to produce livestream broadcasts, game highlights, player interviews, professional photography, promotional videos, behind-the-scenes footage and documentary-style content throughout the tournament. This material will help promote participating athletes, teams, sponsors and Dominica long after the championship game has concluded. The long-term objective is to establish AABL as an annual international basketball festival combining competition, player exposure, youth development, community engagement, media production and sports tourism.
The tournament schedule opens on Thursday, September 17 with Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons against BAA Sharks at 7:00 p.m. and 767 Sports Club Dominators against D-Treads Blazers at 9:00 p.m. Play continues on Friday, September 18 with Parrots Basketball Club versus D-Treads Blazers and AAB Jaguars versus Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons. On Saturday, September 19, Parrots Basketball Club face BAA Sharks and AAB Jaguars meet 767 Sports Club Dominators.
After a break on Sunday, September 20, games resume on Monday, September 21 with Parrots Basketball Club against Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons and AAB Jaguars against D-Treads Blazers. On Tuesday, September 22, Parrots Basketball Club play AAB Jaguars at 9:00 p.m. On Wednesday, September 23, AAB Jaguars face BAA Sharks at 7:00 p.m. and Parrots Basketball Club meet 767 Sports Club Dominators at 9:00 p.m. The semifinals follow on Friday, September 25, with the third-place playoff and final on Saturday, September 26.
