The Dominica Netball Association has named the national squad that will carry the island's colours at the Battle of the Isles 2026 tournament in St. Maarten, with the competition set for October 28 to November 1.
The tournament will mark the tenth anniversary of the Battle of the Isles, a regional netball fixture that has grown into one of the more established dates on the Eastern Caribbean netball calendar. Dominica's participation continues a decade-long run of appearances at the event.
Selection followed the association's review of players ahead of the overseas assignment. The squad will represent Dominica in a tournament that brings together national and club sides from across the region for several days of competition.
Netball remains one of the most widely played women's sports in the Commonwealth of Dominica, with strong roots in schools, communities and parish leagues from Roseau to Portsmouth and beyond. The national programme draws on that base, and overseas tournaments such as Battle of the Isles give Dominican players exposure to a higher standard of opposition than the domestic calendar alone can provide.
The tenth-anniversary staging in St. Maarten places added weight on the occasion. Anniversary tournaments typically attract a fuller field and a more competitive schedule, and Dominica's preparation will be measured against that standard.
For the players, the trip is also a chance to test combinations and build match fitness against regional rivals, experience that feeds back into the association's wider programme at home. Coaches use such tours to assess emerging talent alongside established members of the squad.
The Dominica Netball Association has not yet released the full roster or the team's match schedule for the tournament. Further details, including the final line-up and the fixtures in St. Maarten, are expected as the October start date approaches.
Dominica's netball community will be watching closely, with supporters at home and in the diaspora following the team's progress through the five-day competition. The tournament runs from October 28 to November 1, 2026.
