Women in Dominica are being invited to take part in « One Last Thread », a global creative call launched by the Antigua and Barbuda-based non-profit organisation Integrated Health Outreach (IHO) ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Women's Forum (CWF).

The initiative is an open call for creative submissions from women across the Commonwealth, and organisers say it is designed to give women a platform to share their stories, perspectives and artistic work in the lead-up to the forum. The CWF will be held in Antigua and Barbuda in 2026 alongside the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

For Dominica, the invitation opens a route for local women — artists, writers, craft makers, photographers and others — to have their work seen well beyond the island. The Commonwealth Women's Forum brings together women from across the 56 member states to discuss issues affecting women and girls, and creative contributions have become part of how the forum engages with communities.

IHO, which is based in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, announced the launch of « One Last Thread » as an open call, meaning submissions are not limited to a single discipline or a single country. Women in Dominica are among those being encouraged to answer the call, alongside women in other Caribbean and Commonwealth countries.

The theme and title of the call, « One Last Thread », suggests a focus on connection, continuity and the threads that link women's experiences across borders. Organisers have not restricted the call to professional artists, and the invitation is extended to women who wish to contribute creative work of any kind.

Details on how to submit, including deadlines and the formats accepted, are being handled by Integrated Health Outreach. Women in Dominica who are interested are advised to contact the organisation directly or follow its official channels for the full submission guidelines.

The 2026 Commonwealth Women's Forum will be one of the major side events of CHOGM, which brings together heads of government from across the Commonwealth. Hosting the forum in Antigua and Barbuda places Caribbean women's voices at the centre of the Commonwealth conversation that year, and the creative call is one way organisers are seeking to widen participation beyond official delegations.

For Dominica, participation in Commonwealth cultural and civic initiatives is well established, from the island's engagement in regional bodies to its strong tradition of visual art, craft, literature and music. A call of this kind gives Dominican women an opportunity to place their work in a Commonwealth-wide space without leaving the island to do so.

Women who take part will be contributing to a collection of creative work that will be associated with the 2026 forum. The organisers have framed the call as open and inclusive, and the invitation to Dominica is part of a wider effort to reach women in every corner of the Commonwealth, not only in the larger member states.

Further information on « One Last Thread », including how to submit and what happens to the work afterwards, is available from Integrated Health Outreach. Women in Dominica who wish to answer the call should do so through the organisation's official submission process.
