Residents and businesses in Pichelin, Maranatha Square and Geneva will have their water supply interrupted on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO) has announced.
The utility says the six-hour shutdown is necessary to carry out system maintenance in the affected areas. Customers are advised to store water ahead of the interruption and to make alternative arrangements for the day.
DOWASCO has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience while the work is completed. The company has not said whether the interruption could be extended or shortened, but it has committed to restoring service as soon as the maintenance is finished.
The affected communities are in the Roseau Valley and surrounding areas, where households, small businesses and public facilities rely on the piped network for daily use. A daytime interruption of this length can affect cooking, cleaning, sanitation and the operation of some businesses, so residents are being urged to plan ahead.
DOWASCO regularly schedules maintenance to repair and upgrade its distribution system, and such works are usually announced in advance so that customers can prepare. The company has asked customers to monitor its official channels for any updates.
