The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force has confirmed it is investigating a shooting at Pointe Michel that left a 37-year-old St Lucian national nursing gunshot wounds.
According to the police, Johny Alphonse, a St Lucian male who resided at Green Valley in Pointe Michel, was shot at about 6:30 pm on Sunday, 27th September 2026. He was taken for medical attention and is being treated for his injuries.
Police Public Relations Officer Fixton Henderson confirmed the incident, which left the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers responded to the scene and have launched enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The police have not yet said whether anyone has been arrested or whether they have identified a suspect. Investigations are continuing, and the force has appealed to members of the public who may have information about the incident to come forward.
Pointe Michel, a coastal village on the south-western coast just outside Roseau, is home to a close-knit community. The shooting has caused concern among residents, who are not accustomed to such incidents in the area.
